Diogo Strausz, an autodidact producer, DJ, singer, and musician from Rio de Janeiro, has become a prominent figure on the international music scene over the past few years, creating original tracks and remixes that light up dance floors and capture hearts around the world.
Initially recognized for his electrifying DJ sets featuring some of his own productions, Diogo also gained acclaim with his remixes for artists such as BaianaSystem, in collaboration with New York’s Razor N’ Tape, and for legendary figures like Gal Costa and Marília Mendonça. These projects have accumulated millions of streams and continue to make audiences dance globally.
Splitting his time between São Paulo and Paris, Diogo also stands out for his studio collaborations with Mario Caldato Jr., Manu Gavassi, Chay Suede, and Alice Caymmi. His audiovisual piece “Pausa” was released on the UK label Far Out Records, and tracks from his project Balako are regularly played by renowned DJs such as Gilles Peterson (BBC6) and Bill Brewster. His productions have also been remixed by international artists including French producer Yuksek and deep house pioneer Ron Trent.
On the French label Goutte D’Or Records (a sub-label of Cracki Records), Diogo has released two acclaimed projects: Flight of Sagittarius (2022) and Samba From Outer Space (2024), establishing a unique style that subtly blends electronic music with Brazilian melodies, celebrated both in France and internationally.
On stage, Diogo sings, plays synthesizers and congas, layers his samples, and delivers electrifying performances. He has performed at numerous festivals including Calvi On The Rocks, Macki Festival, Gop Tun Festival, The Town, and Pete The Monkey. Sharing the same booking agency and multiple dates with Voilaaa (Bruno Hovart), produced by Favorite Recordings, Diogo naturally partnered with the French label and Pascal Rioux (founder & A&R) for his new project.
For this new album, Diogo Strausz pays tribute to the golden era of Brazilian disco-funk from the 70s and 80s, honoring iconic producers such as Robson Jorge and Lincoln Olivetti. This more organic and ambitious approach, true to the festive Brazilian spirit, has resulted in Dance Para Se Salvar, a vibrant and danceable album.
